"Many have forgotten this truth, but you must not forget it. You remain responsible, forever, for what you have tamed." - Antoine de Saint Exupery
Training is an often overlooked but none-the-less vital part of your pet's well being. Proper training and socialization are indispensable for promoting and maintaining a happy and healthy animal-owner relationship. When a pet begins to exhibit unwanted or destructive behaviors, this training becomes even more important. Sometimes, it may even mean the difference between a beloved pet remaining in its home or being surrendered to a shelter (or even destroyed).
It's a common misconception that only dogs benefit from training. Birds need (careful) training at least as much as canines, and training your cat to conform to basic household guidelines is very important. It's easy to see the benefits of a cat who has learned that doors leading outside are to be ignored! In truth, almost any animal-owner relationship can be improved through the training process.
A happy pet is one that knows its proper place in your life, and that doesn't happen without your effort. Train your pet!
